Location of our productions
Due to the Corn Exchange being closed our rehearsal venues are changeable, depending on the production.
Why should I join?
WDS has a very friendly family atmosphere. New members are always made to feel very welcome and they quickly become part of the family. Our aim is to produce the best possible theatre whilst having a huge amount of fun.
Do I have to audition?
You do not need to audition to join the club. Once you have paid your money (membership currently £25 per year) you can audition for every WDS show. Every member must audition for each show they want to be in. You do not necessarily have to be a long-term member to get a main part – most WDS shows have at least one brand new member in the cast, often in key or even leading roles. You don't need to have experience. If you are enthusiastic, committed and right for the part you can be cast even if it is the first time you have ever turned up!
What if I don't want to go on stage?
Joining WDS is not necessarily all about being on stage. Our members are actively involved in backstage or technical jobs – indeed some of them don’t want to ‘tread the boards'! So if you have a desire to do stage management, set building, props, costumes, lights, sound, front of house… don’t be shy, come and join us. No experience is necessary, training will be provided, there is always plenty to do and we are always looking for willing members!!
How much does it cost?
Membership is £25 per year.
Are there any age restrictions?
You must be 16 or over to become a member of WDS.
